Why Vashitsula clan in Kakamega bury the dead while seated with his genitals facing upwards

6th February, 2022

Common practice is that the dead always lie in the coffin on their back. It is a different script, however, in the Vashitsula clan from Vushitsula, Ikolomani Kakamega county where elderly men who have left a mark in the society are buried while seated, facing his house’s door and with his genitals facing upwards. Immediately the burial is over, mourners and charged bulls break into isukuti dance on the grave of the deceased as a sign of respect.
