Lending rates controversy on whether the commercial banks’ lending rates will be 4% above the centra

Statehouse spokesperson Manoah Esipisu says President Uhuru Kenyatta will consult widely before deciding whether to sign into law a bill that caps commercial banks’ lending rates at just 4% above the central bank base rate. This announcement comes in the wake of reports of intense lobbying by the Kenya bankers association to dissuade the president from signing the bill.
