Death toll in the Florida nightclub shooting surpasses 50.

12th June, 2016

To the US now where the death toll in the Florida nightclub shooting has now surpassed 50. Police say the gunman whose act has been described a terrorism incident also injured 53 people. The attack on the gay nightclub was billed as the worst terror attack in U.S. History since 9/11. The gunman has been named as Omar Mateen. The two leading U.S. Presidential candidates posted brief messages of sympathy on twitter. Both Donald Trump, the presumptive republican nominee, and Hillary Clinton, his likely democratic rival, have warned the other candidate would make Americans more vulnerable to politically motivated attacks if elected. Clinton has also promised she would make gun control laws more stringent. Trump has dismissed this as an unnecessary infringement on gun-owners' rights, saying everyone would be safer if more people had guns. Police say the gunman has since been killed.
