Death has plucked Congolese musician Papa Wemba from us. Papa Wemba suffered a seizure and collapsed at a concert in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The renowned singer was 67 years old. Papa Wemba’s real name was Shungu Wambadio. He was among the first musicians to join the influential Soukous band Zaiko langa langa when it was formed in December 1969 in Kinshasa. Papa Wemba was a favorite of many Kenyans and his music is revered especially hits such as “show me the way” and “yolele”. May he rest in Peace.
