The dawn of 2nd April 2015 will forever be engraved in the hearts and minds of students at the Garissa University College after 148 people mostly students were killed by al shabaab militants. But for the survivors of the attack and indeed the community that surrounds the campus, many have been left with much more than just memories of the day. They have been left with scars, both physical and psychological that will live with them forever. A year later, ktn’s Timothy Otieno retraces the steps of the students who survived the horror and lived to tell about it and goes back to Garissa to assess the changes made by the community there determined to leave behind a bitter past.
