Unconfirmed reports indicate that a female trader was today shot dead during a confrontation between demonstrators and police in Thika town. The traders were protesting against the closure of Madaraka market in Thika’s makongeni estate by the county government of Kiambu. Four lawmakers led by Thika town MP Alice Ng’ang’a stormed the market and forcefully opened it.
