The coast region is reaping big from the National Government, after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced major infrastructural projects for the coastal strip. Among the multibillion shilling projects are tarmacking of roads that will connect Kilifi, Mombasa and Kwale, Tanariver, and Lamu counties. Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Ali Joho who have been President Kenyatta’s staunch critics, are now working with the president to push for the projects. Kenyatta toured the 4.2 billion shilling Malindi?Salagate road that is now complete and the 2.3 billion shilling Baricho Bridge, whose construction is ongoing. Seamless connectivity to the region will ease transportation of goods thus opening up the counties for more trade.
