Sigh of relief for some gubernatorial aspirants after they were cleared to contest in the 2022 polls

8th June, 2022

It was a sigh of relief for some Gubernatorial aspirants after they were cleared to contest in the forthcoming general election. Among those who celebrated the clearance were senators Johnson Sakaja, Kakamega's Cleophas Malala as well as Irungu Kang'ata of Murang'a. Sakaja and his running mate Njoroge Muchiri were forced to wait for hours before their education credentials were verified. In Muranga, Irungu Kang'ata was also cleared to contest despite hurdles on his running mate whose retirement date had to be confirmed first.
