President Uhuru Kenyatta visits Kapedo following the Friday killings in the area

2nd November, 2014

President Uhuru Kenyatta has visited Kapedo following the killing of at least 21 administration police officers and three civilians by suspected Pokot bandits on Friday. The visit by the president comes just a day after interior cabinet secretary Joseph Ole Lenku inspector general of police David Kimaiyo visited the same area. The dispute in Kapedo along the Baringo Turkana border has left close to three dozen people dead in the last one month. The latest attack on administration police happened as the security officers were inspecting a vehicle that had been torched by bandits when they were ambushed. Last week the government deployed a combined force of administration police officers, general service unit and the rapid deployment unit officers to affected area.
