The effects of 16 percent VAT on petroleum products

The Energy and Regulatory Commission has vowed it will introduce the proposed 16% vat on petroleum products from September 2nd despite hue and cry from motorists and ordinary Kenyans. If this proposal sails through, motorists are set to pay a record 130.15 per litre of petrol or about 17.9 more beginning next month thus pushing up the cost of living significantly.
