Kenya’s October inflation shoots to 6.72 percent

October inflation has shot to 6.72 percent, closing in on the Central Bank’s upper limit target of seven percent. Rising rents, energy and food prices all pushed inflation higher in October from September’s inflation rate of 5.97 percent. According to data from the Kenya national bureau of statistics, the food and non-alcoholic drinks index which has a 36.04 percent weighting in the basket of goods used to measure inflation rose 11.27 percent year-on-year and 0.88 percent from a month earlier.
