A new “third force” is emerging in Kenya’s political landscape, driven by youthful leaders and activists promising to disrupt the traditional dominance of President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza alliance and the established opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election. Riding on the momentum of the recent Gen Z-led protests against the 2024 Finance Bill, the movement seeks to unite disillusioned voters around calls for transparency, economic reforms, and the end of tribal-based politics. Key figures, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga, and Bumula MP Wanami Wamboka, are rallying support across party lines, with plans to formalize a political platform. While the wave of youth activism has demonstrated remarkable mobilization power through social media, analysts caution that the movement’s long-term impact will depend on its ability to maintain cohesion and develop a clear electoral strategy.
