A section of ODM-affiliated legislators has confirmed their detachment from the party, citing dissatisfaction with its recent political direction, particularly the ongoing pact with the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition. The lawmakers, who have increasingly distanced themselves from ODM leadership, argue that the party's cooperation with Kenya Kwanza undermines its core principles and betrays the opposition’s role in holding the government accountable. Their move signals growing internal rifts within the party, with indications that more members could follow suit as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election begin to take shape.
