Closed-circuit TV footage allegedly showing former Tetu MP James Gethenji beating up a security guard at Kihingo Estate was produced in court as evidence in an assault case.
Gethenji, who is embroiled in a dispute with his sibling over an upmarket city estate, was charged in November 2021 for allegedly assaulting Godfrey Kirimi.
The video played before the Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego on Tuesday shows a commotion also involving an armed police officer.
“The video clearly shows that the accused person also pushed a police officer in uniform who is also part of the security team of the estate. “The man seen in the videos assaulting Kirimi is the one who is in court,” said forensic examiner Samson Otieno.
According to court documents, the incident took place on February 5, 2021.
Otieno said on the day, a Toyota Vanguard approached the main entrance of Kihingo with the two front seats occupied. The co-driver is seen approaching the security guard and slapping him.
Otieno was cross-examined by Gethenji’s lawyer Churchill Otieno.
The case continues on July 20.
