The Smart Africa Secretariat and Ericsson have partnered to develop a more connected, knowledge-based society in Africa.
Following the partnership, announced at last week’s World Economic Forum on Africa, Ericsson joins Smart Africa Alliance as a technical advisor and platinum private sector member. The firm will craft blueprints supporting the implementation of the Smart Africa vision and plan.
Established in 2013, Smart Africa plans to usher Africa into the knowledge economy through affordable access to broadband and usage of ICT.
The alliance is already collaborating with Rwanda on key projects in the financial, transport, utilities, public safety and security sectors to develop a smart city in Kigali.
