A 25-year-old man was arraigned in Kakamega Law Courts on Wednesday for allegedly defiling a minor in Shishwa village.
Fredrick Achimosi appeared before Kakamega Resident Magistrate, Caroline Cheruiyot to answer to charges of defilement.
He also faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act. The accused denied the charges and was released on Sh100,000 bond.
"The court has recorded that he has denied the charges and he is therefore admitted to a bond of Sh100,000 with a surety of a similar amount,” said Magistrate Cheruiyot.

The prosecution told the court that the 16-year-old girl left home for Khayega market at around 4.00 pm in the company of a friend to buy some school items after she was sent by her parents but proceeded to Kakamega.
“The girl had gone to Khayega market to buy some school items with her friend but while on their way, they decided to go to Kakamega town,” said the prosecutor Moraa Atandi.
Atandi told the court that while in Kakamega town the duo met with the accused who convinced them to go to his house where he lived with his grandmother.
“They went to the accused person's house and stayed till nightfall. Achimosi then took the victim's friend back to her home and left the complainant in the house. It was then that he took advantage of the girl and defiled her,” she said.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused and the complainant spent the day together before he was arrested.
“The following day the complainant's parents searched for her and found her at the accused's house. The accused was arrested and charged,” she said.
Atandi told the court that she had supplied the accused with all documentary evidence that the prosecution intends to rely on during the hearing of the case.
Court documents state that on May 12, in Shiswa village, Achimosi defiled a girl aged 16.
