Stephen Maloba, the MCA of Kisa East Ward in Kakamega County, was on Saturday, April 1 stabbed to death at a political rally within his ward in Khwisero Constituency.
It is alleged that goons armed with a knife stabbed him while attempting to block him from addressing the crowd.
The gathering held at Munjiti had been convened by area Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Aseka.
Maloba arrived at the venue much later after the area MP Aseka had settled at the function.
Unknown people attempted to block Maloba from entering the venue, resulting in the melee.

Maloba, who was stabbed in the chest, was taken to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital in Mbale, where he died shortly after arrival.
Area chief Walter Mukungu told The Standard that investigations into the killing have commenced.
Maloba, a first time legislator, won the August 9, 2022 Member of County Assembly (MCA) election on independent ticket.
