Do you remember Patrick Muthomi? Here’s where he is now

Many Kenyans will remember Patrick Muthomi, the boy who went all out to look for job, desperately creating a poster to market himself and stood at Muthaiga – Thika road hoping that a potential employer would take notice.

Youth in Kenya have kept complaining about the inability of the government to provide enough jobs, especially for those fresh out of campus.

Patrick was one of those who came out of campus hoping to land a job in his first few days out, but failed to find an institution willing to employ him.

He was a Bachelor of Commerce student and had also gone through a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) course up to section 4.

However, for Patrick, there was light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking to Ureport through a phone interview, Patrick was happy to inform us that he had found a job!

When was he contacted?

He said that he couldn’t remember the date exactly but it was around 10^th August 2016. He received hundreds of calls from people who wanted to employ him but none of the jobs suited him.

Where does he work?

Patrick is now employed at Chandaria Industries in Baba Dogo.

How was he contacted?

He said after receiving calls from different people, Chandaria Industries boss called him personally and told him to go for an interview.

The job experience

“I had to go through a learning process first,” said Patrick. He had never worked at such a place before so he had to familiarize himself with the work process before he could settle well. He said that the job for him is good as it helps him sustain himself and those related to him.

He then urged the government to provide more avenues to university graduates to get jobs, saying that the manner in which he went looking for one was not supposed to be experienced by anyone. He also remains thankful to Chandaria Industries for giving him a job and aims to do his best.

He has now spent 12 months at Chandaria Industries.
