Opposition is fueling chaos, claims President

President William Ruto has accused the opposition of fueling chaos and inciting Kenyans.

The President claimed that the opposition has no specific agenda, therefore using youth to escalate violence.

Ruto, who was speaking at Kaptagat in Elgeyo Marakwet during the Katagat Integrated Conservation Programme, accused some church leaders and opposition leaders of encouraging the June 25 and Saba Saba protesters, which had seen over 30 people lose their lives, business destruction, and government infrastructure burned among others.

"To my competitors, what agenda do you have apart from name-calling and chanting one term?" Ruto said. "We can't accept the country to go the tribal way. I have united Kenyans, even those who didn't vote for me, by ensuring that we work in unifying and developing the country."

Ruto accused politicians arrested for planning chaos of lying. "If you engage in planning and destroying property, we will hold you accountable. It is not political persecution, we will come for you, properties, and lives should be protected at all costs," he said.

Ruto stated that conserving the environment was paramount in fighting climate change, which has caused food shortages, displacement and other calamities.

He spearheaded the planting of 56,000 trees in Kaptagat, saying over 800,000 trees have been planted across the country in achieving the 15 billion target.

He encouraged Kenyans to register for the ongoing Social Health Insurance Fund to access medical services. "For those who are unable to pay, the government will pay for you, but those able will pay as per their earnings, the theft which was in NHIF will end," he said.

Separately, his Deputy Kithure Kindiki also dismissed the opposition, asserting that the government remains focused on delivering development and economic empowerment to all Kenyans.

Speaking when he met women groups and Saccos at Emurua Dikiir Primary school in Trans Mara East, Kindiki accused opposition leaders of lacking both vision and credibility.
