HomeBoyz splash into big water business
By Pulse Writer
It seems that the world economic meltown is not stopping one of Kenya’s foremost entertainment companies, HomeBoyz Entertainment from investing and expanding their empire. Pulse can now confirm that the entertainment company built from scratch has risen into a powerhouse (arguably the biggest in East Africa), has bought one of the biggest fully automated water plants in the country — the 10,000square metres Haha Water Factory for over Sh100million. Mike Rabar of HomeBoyz caught many by surprise last week when ‘H2O Mineral Water’ gave Sh5.5million sponsorship cheque for Junior World Rugby Trophy (JWRT) scheduled for April. The last we had of HomeBoyz was that they were launching their second radio station and had just struck a multi-million deal with Warner Brothers (US) to produce a Kenyan Video Game featuring Kenyan artistes including Jua Cali and Wyre among others.
They now operate the biggest animation company in the region (in collaboration with a company from London) and that their latest business venture is the mineral water business.

"It’s a fact that Kenyans are also becoming more conscious of what they consume. Drinking soda instead of water will lead to a lot of problems — lots of calories (weight gain), worse triglycerides in the blood (bad), more tooth decay, probably less quenching of your thirst due to the concentrated sugar.
"Again Kenyans have not been very confident of about where there bottled water comes from. Our biggest selling point is that we are one of the very few companies that can guarantee consumers that our H2O Mineral Water is harvested from a natural subterranean reservoir and purified using some of the best equipment in the world," he said.
"Drinking water is the next big thing and we are going to make H2O the coolest youth drink in the region," he adds. The drink hits the shelves next month.
