MP tells Kenyans to ignore Raila's calls for demos

Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has appealed to Kenyans not to heed calls for demonstrations by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

The lawmaker was reacting to recent threats by Raila for fresh anti-government demonstrations over high cost of living.

Musyoka said the planned protests are aimed at disrupting the Kenya Kwanza government's development agenda.

At the same time, the MP who is UDA national organizing secretary lauded the government for timely release of bursaries for students in constituencies across the country.

Musyoka has awarded bursaries to 7,123 college and university students in his constituency.

"This is a landmark for the Kenya Kwanza government to prove its commitment to serving Kenyans" he said.

At the same time, he raised concern over the high number of youths in the area said to be dying by suicide.

"Such cases are as a result of domestic feud and drugs abuse" he said and urged relevant agencies to join efforts in fighting drug abuse to ensure a productive society.

The MP called on the Machakos county government to increase education bursary budget to boost the funds allocated to constituencies.

"l call upon governor Wavinya Ndeti, to adjust the education bursary allocation to a higher amount which is possible to boost the money allocated to constituencies," Musyoka stated.

He said increased funds will ensure more needy students access education.
