Three Killed, communication masts destroyed in Mandera dawn attack

Three people have been killed in an early morning attack in Mandera's Wargadud and Iresuki towns.
Police reports indicate that two security officers and a teacher died in the attacks with Safaricom mast being destroyed rendering the area unreachable on the phone.
Further reports indicate one land cruiser belonging to the police was taken by attackers before raiding the neighboring village of Iresuki and destroyed another telecommunication mast.
A senior police officer attached to Elwak station told The Standard said the missing land cruiser belongs to Wargadud police station.
Local residents also confirmed that several people are nursing injuries following fire exchange that ensued between the attackers and police.
