All set for innovation showcase in Nairobi

The University of Nairobi will beginning today host the biggest innovation showcase in the country.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Madara Ogot said the fifth edition of the Nairobi Innovation Week that will run until Friday will feature 26 major events across the city, with over 100 start-ups taking part.
It will also feature the Nairobi Innovation Challenge, seminars, panel discussions as well as the Nairobi Innovation Summit.
“We are proud that this year we are having the largest showcase of start-ups from East and Central Africa,” he said on Friday.
Prof Ogot said they had received sponsorship to the tune of more than Sh11 million from several firms, including Barclays (Sh2 million), the National Research Fund (Sh1 million) as well as Kenya National Innovation Agency (Sh1.2 million), and the University of Nairobi Alumni Association (Sh500,000).
