Mombasa County Police Commissioner Evans Achoki has said there will be no movement of petrol tankers in town during the election dates to avert disaster.
The commissioner said all petrol tankers should be grounded at their designated parking yards away from the streets.
"We are demanding those with oil tankers to park them at the designated yards and none will be allowed to park in town. This is a safety measure to avert any disaster," said Achoki.
Speaking in his office while holding a county contingency meeting, Achoki said they have deployed enough security officers across the county to ensure peaceful elections.
He said police officers will be guarding and patrolling all polling stations, malls, churches, clubs, and beaches to ensure safety of all citizens during and after the elections.

"I want to assure Mombasa County residents that our county security and intelligence agency has deployed adequately and ready to cover the elections. If there is anything report to the police for quick action," said Achoki.
The commissioner warned that there will be hefty consequences for anyone who will cause chaos at the polling station or attempt to destroy people's property.
For any security related complains, the public should call police hotline 999, 0789-999396 or SMS 22068.
