ERC names outlets selling contaminated fuel

NAIROBI, KENYA: Energy Regulatory Commission has blacklisted 56 petroleum outlets found either selling contaminated or export bound fuel.
The regulator said it conducted inspection between the months of September 2015 to February 2016 where 75 tests from the 56 stations turned out to be non-compliant.
“Respective County Commissioners were requested to withdraw the licenses of the operators of the defaulting outlets,” said the Commission through advert appearing in local dailies.
The affected stations either offered for sale motor gasoline contaminated with Kerosene or offering fuel bound for transit.

In Nairobi County, the affected outlet includes Shell Valley Road Service Station found offering contaminated motor gasoline. The station has however been reopened after paying penalties amounting to Sh 1,000,000.
In Kiambu, Kenol Ruiru Service Station, Top fuel and Shell (new Gatundu) service station were affected.
Gilmark filling station (Kakamega), Ndovu Luanda (Kakamega), Kathima (Meru), Wamo (Kakamega), Kwetu (Meru), SKT (Meru)and Apex One (Meru) were all closed.
