The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) will hold a vigil in memory of Albert Ojwang, the 31-year-old teacher who died in police custody.
The candlelight vigil, originally scheduled for 4.00pm on Friday, will start at 3.00pm at KUPPET headquarters in Nairobi and will be observed simultaneously at all county offices.
Condemning the death, KUPPET Secretary-General Akelo Misori said the incident echoes a complete corruption within the police service
"Ojwang did not deserve to lose his life. If he had committed a crime, as alleged, the coordination by officers from Taita Taveta, Homa Bay, and Nandi counties suggests that the killing was sanctioned at the highest level of the police service," he said.
