Ex-Kajiado Governor appointed chair of Wildlife Research and Training Institute

President William Ruto has appointed former Kajiado Governor David Ole Nkedianye as the chairperson of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute.

Nkedianye will be the helm of the Institute for three years, effective May 31, 2023.

"I, William Samoei Ruto appoints David Ole Nkedianye to be the Chairperson of the Wildlife Research and Training Institute," a gazette notice dated May 31 read in part.

Nkedianye is the latest politician to get a State appointment. He successfully defended the Kajiado North parliamentary seat twice on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket in 2013 and 2017.

In the 2022 elections, he ditched the party to seek the governorship on a Jubilee ticket but was floored by Ole Lenku.

The Head of State has also appointed former Gilgil Member of Parliament Samuel Mathenge Nderitu as the chairperson of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.

Nderitu is to serve in the agency alongside two new members; Letulal ole Masikonde and Daniel Tuitoek.

The chairperson and members will serve until April 8, 2024.

"The appointments of Boniface Kamanga Muhia, Julius Kamau Muthanwa and Cynthia Jerotich Kipchillat are revoked," Ruto noted.

The President has also named Sammy Latema and David Kipchirchir Kimetto as members of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.

The two are to serve in the position up to August 4, 2025.

The Head of State has revoked the appointments of Irene Chebet Lorot and Reuben Kibet arap Tuei.

In other ministerial appointments, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has named Nancy Sang as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC).

The appointees are to start work from May 31.
