Budget reading: Four Nairobi roads closed

Four roads in Nairobi will remain closed this afternoon, to allow for ease of access into Parliament buildings during the budget reading.

Parliament Road, Taifa Road, Harambee Avenue and City Hall Way will remain closed to the public between 1.00pm and 5.30pm.

Nairobi Regional Commander James Kianda in a statement Thursday said, "In order to facilitate ease of movement during budget reading for Members of Parliament and Senate as well as executives from Treasury, the roads will be closed.”

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Amb Ukur Yattani is expected to present the Financial Year 2021/2022 national budget at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi at exactly 3.15pm.

Earlier, CS Yattani, in an interview with Citizen TV expressed confidence in delivering a legacy the president hopes for, saying, “there have been a lot of investment towards big four agenda, recovery efforts, stimulus projects and infrastructure developments.

Kenyans are rife with expectations as they await to hear strategies that the government will put in place and monies allocated to various sectors, as Yattani presents the Sh3.6 trillion budget.

This is his second budget against a backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, coupled with a shrinking economy, job losses and high tax inflation.
