The county government has completed the refurbishment of the 268-metre Kapiti Road in South B at a cost of Sh17 million.
According to Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke, who recently launched the road alongside South B Ward Rep Manoah Mboku, the renovation of estate roads is part of the Smart Roads Concept.
"Better transport, housing and infrastructure remain a key pillar among the seven grand promises we made to Nairobi in 2013. This is not only because it is a key ingredient for the success of a competitive modern economy, but also because well-designed infrastructure investment raises economic growth, productivity and property values, while providing significant positive spillovers," said Mueke.
He pointed out that the Smart Roads Concept covers over 30 estates in Nairobi, adding that there are ongoing works in areas such as South C, Nairobi West, Lang'ata, Mathare, Kileleshwa, Donholm, Githurai and Buruburu.
The county government has set Sh6.2 billion in this financial year for the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of roads in the county, with Governor Evans Kidero having recently announced introduction of a new transport plan.
