Are cosmetics, jewellery and accessories cluttering up your dressing table space? Today we look at four ways to organise your space and restore the calm that helps you get ready for the day.
Group similar items
Sort out the items into three groups, make up, jewellery and accessories. Decide on where to store each category. Frequently used cosmetics and skin care products can be placed on the table top or tucked away in the first drawer of your dressing table.
This not only to protects them from dust but also keeps them out of sight from prying hands of children or other family members who may want to use it. Utilise the drawers to keep away most of your hair products, skin product and accessories so that you minimise the items on the table top.
Shallow bowls are a great way to store earrings and hair pins and provide easy retrieval. You may want to keep expensive and sentimental jewellery such as wedding rings in a separate lockable jewellery case. Heavier, dangling earrings can be put on a caddy and necklaces hanged on a necklace hanger.

Colour Co-ordinate
To give your dressing table a sense of unity and harmony, find colour matching containers to store makeup brushes and combs. Even simple matching plastic tumblers will do the trick. Make up sponges can be stored in a closed container to protect them from dust while an attractive perfume bottle can be used to store hair bands.
Beautify the table top with a bouquet of short stemmed flowers to bring some life to your table and a family photograph that you love.
Unclutter
Be ruthless about items you do not use. Throw away expired make up and give away or sell jewellery and accessories you have out grown, they will be a treasure to someone else. If you are prone to buying excess cosmetics and personal care products then purpose to only buy what you need.
I have a pretty wooden tray on my dressing table for lotions and make up products and restrict myself to only this set space, to stop myself from buying stuff I do not always need.
I only buy additional hair sprays and skincare products when space is available upon finishing of my current products. Rather than buying a bottle of shampoo and another bottle of conditioner, purchase combined conditioning shampoo to reduce on table top space usage.
Maintenance
To keep your dressing table in tip top condition, make time to dust and organise the items at least once a week.
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe away hair and make up on a daily basis. Designate a place for every item and every item with its place and you will soon find it easy to maintain a tidy and well organised dressing table and provides a pleasant time to pamper yourself.
