Mathare United on Saturday moved out of the relegation zone after narrowly defeating struggling Wazito 1-0 in a FKF Premier League match played at Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi.
Daniel Otieno 80th minute header was all that Mathare needed as they collected maximum points to move 15th on the log with 13 points, one above the danger zone.
The win, Mathare's fourth of the campaign, lifted them above Nairobi City Stars who dropped to the relegation zone after Simba wa Nairobi lost 2-0 to Ulinzi Stars at Kasarani Annex. Enosh Ochieng scored a brace for Ulinzi Stars.
Wazito on the other hand remain in 17th position, with only 10 points to their name.
Wazito who are now based in Kisumu County came off to an aggressive start, pinning Mathare to their half but none of the sides seemed to create clear goal-scoring opportunities in the first half.
