A senior police officer in Laikipia County has been stabbed to death during a raid at a changaa den.
Rumuruti Deputy Officer Commanding Station Peter Wandera was killed as he confronted an illicit brewer in the 'changaa' den at Maundu ni Meri village in Laikipia West constituency on Thursday night at around 7pm.
According to a police report, Wandera was alone when he was allegedly stabbed with a knife by the owner of the drinking, identified as Jackline Leperle.
According to Laikipia County Police Commander John Nyoike, the incident happened at around 7.30 pm.
He said that the officer heard reports that there were some 20 liters of changaa that was to be delivered to the drinking den when he decided to act.

"He moved to the scene alone and a confrontation ensued. We have reports that the woman picked a knife and stabbed him on his left side of the chest," he said.
Nyoike said that he died on the spot
"We are still searching for the suspect who is still at large." he noted.
The body has since been moved to St Benedict Nyahururu hospital mortuary.
