Ruiru, Kenya: Three suspected kidnappers were Friday morning arrested and a female victim rescued in a police operation in Ruiru area.
The three who include a woman had kidnapped a female passenger as she waited to board a Matatu along the Eastern bypass and demanded a ransom of Sh200,000. Police say the family of the woman managed to send Sh15,000 to the kidnappers.
A team of detectives from special crimes prevention unit tracked the gang up to the Nakuru-Nairobi highway where they found the woman blindfolded and a piece of cloth stuffed into her mouth.
The three kidnappers have been mentioned in at least five such cases and are being held at Ruiru police station, police said. Police want anyone who has been a victim to come foward and help in identifying them. Head of special crimes prevention unit Noah Katumo said the woman was kidnapped on Thursday evening.
