An assistant chief in Limuru, Kiambu County, has been linked to the death of a man he caught allegedly stealing maize on his farm.
Peter Njenga Muigai of Karanjee sub-location was whisked away by police after angry villagers threatened to lynch him following the death of Nemwel Ocharo.
According to some of the locals, Ocharo went home and found his family had nothing to eat. He proceeded to the chief's farm, where he was attacked with an arrow and a machete.
" When Ocharo went to his farm, the chief shot him with an arrow. He then advanced towards the victim and slashed him with a panga on the neck before raising the alarm after releasing Ocharo was dead," said one of the villagers who spoke anonymously.
