Kirinyaga County Assembly has passed a motion to upgrade Wang'uru town to a municipality.
Wang'uru will be the second municipality in Kirinyaga after Kerugoya/Kutus.
While moving the motion, Leader of Majority and Kerugoya MCA Kamau Murango noted that the move to elevate Wang’uru town into a municipality will unlock Sh600 million funding which will go towards financing a rice processing factory.
"By upgrading Wang'uru to a municipality, we shall attract key donors like the World Bank that are critical in financing infrastructure development in municipalities," said Murango.
