Kenya's central bank was in the market on Monday to sell an unspecified amount of dollars after the shilling hit a fresh three-year low, traders said.

"Yes, they are in (the market)," said a trader at one commercial bank. A trader at another bank confirmed the central bank was selling dollars.

Traders had said earlier in the session that they were on the lookout for the bank's entry to support the weakening shilling, which is trading at its lowest levels since November 2011.
