The 2018 Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon launched as the fifteenth edition event target to raise Sh60million.
The marathon is scheduled for October 28 at Railway Club as its traditional host venue, Nyayo Stadium is still undergoing renovations.
“This year we are targeting to raise Kes 60 million. All the proceeds from registration will be channeled to the ‘Seeing is Believing initiative’, which focuses on addressing avoidable blindness among children below 15 years” said Manjang, CEO Standard Chartered Bank Kenya.
Manjang disclosed that the Bank will invest Sh. 100 million in funding this year’s event. This includes more than Kes 8 million prize money that will be awarded to the various winners in the competitive races.

The marathon will feature six categories; 42km male and female, 21km male and female, 10km male and female, 21km wheelchair male and female, 5km Family Fun Run race and the popular 3km CEO challenge with winner of 42km set to pocket Sh. 1.5 million, second place getting Sh. 650,000 and third getting Sh. 350,000.
The winner of 21km will walk home with sh. 200,000 while second and third getting Sh.150, 000 and Sh. 100,000 respectively.
The online registration started yesterday for individual and cooperate with a fee of Sh. 2000 for individual. [Dennis Okeyo]
