My Style: Janet Kirina, actress

By Crystal Okusa

My style is…

Sassy which is easy, comfortable and stylish.

What look do you don to look sassy?

I’m always wearing either a vest or a T-shirt with a pair of nice jeans and sandals. I always carry heels in my bag if I plan on attending a function later in the evening.

I’m big on…

Bold colours such as black, yellow, red, purple and red. I love them because they make me stand out and portray my real personality.

I can’t stop buying…

Shoes. I have around 30 pairs, some of which I have never worn but I still buy more with the hope that I will wear them some day.

I can’t do without…

African jewellery. They always look good with most of my outfits.

To maintain my body I always…

Jog three times a week to keep my body toned. I also don’t leave the house without my water bottle; my skin needs to look fresh all the time.

My worst buy was…

A pair of vintage earrings I bought a while back but I don’t wear them that much because they look too dressy for a normal weekend and there aren’t any dressy occasions to wear them to — so they feel like a waste of cash.

I was a walking disaster when I wore…

Heels and an official jacket to a rugby game. I was straight from an interview and didn’t have time to go change, so I went straight to the pitch. When I got there I really felt out of place because I looked overdressed. Most fans were clad in more relaxed sporty outfits.

Catch me dead wearing…

That dark pencil (lip liner). I don’t care how it’s done it simply looks scary.

Which part of your body do you find hard to dress?

My forehead. I would see a hairstyle I like but can’t work it because it might make my forehead look bigger.

Guys should stop wearing…

Tight jeans, they just don’t work for me, no wait! They need to be made illegal. And overdoing the sagging of jeans is annoying.

Style mantra?

Know your body type in order to know how to work it.
