It's up to citizens to decide if Uhuru will become PM

Kandara MP Alice Wahome (pictured) recently claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta was planning to remain in power after his second term expires in 2022 by contesting for the proposed prime minister's post.

The president has not stated categorically that he will contest for the premiership, if indeed the position is created.

He has only said he would not mind serving as PM if given the opportunity.

Listening to the MP, she wanted Kenyans to believe that if Uhuru was to vie for the seat, such a move would be unconstitutional therefore it should not be allowed to happen.

But power comes from the people so if Kenyans passed the recommendation, who is she to say no?

Uhuru has rolled out a number of flagship development projects and some will not be completed by 2022.

Thus I believe that majority of Kenyans would not mind having him at the helm, this time as a PM.

He would work hand in hand with the new president to ensure his pet projects continued to be implemented, and that they were not sabotaged by people hell-bent on obliterating his legacy.
