Freeze funds for governors in push for referendum, says Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has threatened to present a Motion in Parliament seeking to freeze the bank accounts of counties whose governors are fronting the Pesa Mashinani referendum campaign.

Speaking in Konoin during a church fundraiser on Sunday, Kuria said the move would ensure public resources are not misused by the governors to popularise the referendum at the expense of development.

He said it was apparent that some county bosses were using public resources to campaign for the referendum.

"It is obvious that none of them is using their salaries and therefore public resources are in danger and something should be done to safeguard them for public interest and development," the MP said.

His announcement comes hot on the heels of the clamour for a referendum by the Council of Governors with questions arising on the source of funding for the exercise. He said public funds risked going to waste.
