Kenyans in the Diaspora to crown their king and queen

The 6th of May was not a usual night in Dubai. Kenyans leaving in the emirates converged at the Spree club based at the Royal Ascott hotel in Dubai for the much anticipated KEDIA awards. The awards were meant to recognise outstanding personalities and companies and also crown the Mr and Miss Kenya Dubai.

The main sponsors of the event were Air Rwanda who facilitated Business class travel of the celebrities who graced the event. The MC of the night was Churchill's Eddie Butita and among the perfomers were the Genge maestro Jua Cali, Meg C of the "usiku moja" fame and budding coast superstar Dazzlah, who's music fans seemed to sing along to word for word.

The red carpet event was the first of its kind in Dubai for Kenyans in Diaspora and some of those in attendance hoped that such gatherings would be a common spectacle. The finalists of the event would be announced after a follow up second runway event that will take place after the month of Ramadhan, where they will bring their prowess in action for the grand price of AED 10,000 and 5,000 AED (Winner and Runner’s up respectively)
