71 criminal investigations concluded in four months, NPS reports

The National Police Service (NPS) has announced the successful conclusion of 71 criminal investigations over the last four months.

In a press statement issued on Friday, May 16, NPS attributed the progress to commitment of its officers, particularly those under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Among the notable cases resolved include those involving officials from the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO), the death of Silvia Kemunto, a student at Multimedia University, the death of Campbell Alistair Scott, and the murder of Aisha Abubakar, an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official in Kilifi.

Also highlighted was a home invasion and robbery targeting a Korean missionary couple at the Elmarba Full Gospel Church in Ololililai, Kajiado County.

According to NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, in the robbery case, police arrested four suspects who have since been arraigned in court.

The service also reported significant progress in investigations into the murder of Charles Were, Kasipul Member of Parliament.

"We extend our gratitude to members of the public who have bravely come forward and shared crucial information," said NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

"Their support has been instrumental in helping the police successfully conclude investigations and apprehend those responsible for these heinous acts."

The authority has appealed to the public to continue supporting its work by reporting any suspicious activity, reaffirming their commitment to thorough and timely investigate to ensure justice is served and perpetrators held accountable.
