LAIKIPIA, KENYA: Police in Laikipia County are holding a middle aged man who allegedly sodomised a 15-year-old boy and infected him with HIV.

The man who works as a farm hand was arrested at Matuiku village in Laikipia west on Tuesday morning.

According to Ngarua District Officer Rufus Kihara, the man was caught red handed by neighbours as he sexually molested the boy in his house.

Kihara said that neighbours got curious after they heard the boy scream from the suspect’s house.

“A neighbor was passing the suspect’s house when he heard the boy scream, he got curious and alerted other residents. They broke into the house only to find the two naked in the bed,” he said.

The boy was bleeding and neighbours rushed him to Ndindika health center for treatment.

Kihara said angry neighbours apprehended the suspect and took him to Kinamba police station where he was locked up.

The suspect was later taken to hospital and was found to be HIV positive.

“We took him for a medical check where it was established that he was HIV positive. This came as a shock as he might have infected the boy with the virus,” noted Kihara.

He noted that the boy has since been discharged and the suspect will be taken to court.
