Kenya: Several former and current police bosses and Provincial Administration officials have been adversely mentioned in the report by the Truth, Justice and Reconcialition Commission (TJRC), with farreaching recommendations made against them.

The report by the Truth Justice and Reconcialition Commission links  the police bosses  to torture, grabbing of property, assault and clashes in Akiwumi, Kiliku and 2007/2008 election-realted violence reports.

The report says they were all given a chance to appear before the commission but some failed to honour the summons. Among those mentioned include Peter King’ori, a one time provincial police boss.

Yesterday, King’ori who is the deputy head of police reforms, said TJRC summoned him and he felt some of the issues they were raising were irrelevant.

“They asked me to respond to issues to do with Wagalla Massacre which happened when I was not even a police officer. They also asked me to respond to issues that happened when I was in college,” said King’ori.
