Champions Thunder topple KPA men from league summit

Reigning Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Men's Premier League champions Nairobi City Thunder returned to the top of the table following a double victory at the weekend.
Thunder made light work of the United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) Tigers and their University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror counterparts to stretch their winning streak to eight games out of eight.
They beat Tigers 85-67 then thrashed Terror 96-48 to maintain their perfect run. Youngster Aboat Laqsa who was promoted from the development side starred for Thunder sinking 26 points with Dismas Mbaka who had a fruitful weekend out adding 24. Niva Morgan led Terror with 14 points.
They top with 16 points one more than former holders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who are second.
Eldonets Platinum who lost their home tie against African Nazarene University Wolfpacks are third with 14 points. Wolfpacks triumphed 71-64 even as Platinum suffered their third straight home defeat.
Umoja Basketball Club, former champions Ulinzi Warriors and Stanbic Shields are all tied on 11 points.
Umoja who were not in action this weekend while the Warriors squeezed a narrow 49-46 win against Tigers have played seven matches while Shields have played eight.
Wolfpacks, Strathmore University Blades and National Bank of Kenya Phoenix who lost 51-68 to Shields all have nine points. Equity Bank Dumas and Tigers have eight points while Terror lead from the bottom with seven.
Stanbic Aces dislodged record titleholders KPA from the peak of the Women's Premier League table despite their weekend loss to Zetech Sparks.
They have 13 points from five wins and three losses while unbeaten dockers are second with 12.
Strathmore Swords who suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of 2015 champions USIU-A Flames are third with 11 points.
Zetech Sparks are fourth with 10 points from five outings, Eldonets ladies are fifth with 10 points from three wins and four losses.
Th3 Swish, UoN Dynamites who lost their two ties against Swords and Flames as well as Safe Spaces are tied on eight points.
Defending champions Equity Hawks and Flames who have played three matches this season have six points same as Storms and ANU Panthers.
Meanwhile, Women Division One side Foot Prints coach Kent Juma decried KBF's last minute fixture changes that cost them two matches.
