Samurai and Tanqueray will share the Chairman’s Cup prize for the next six months each after the two teams settled for a five-all draw yesterday, at Nairobi Polo Club.

It was the Raphael Nzomo-led Samurai side that left the pitch with their shoulders high after forcing the much-fancied Tanqueray side to a draw.

Nzomo (Raphael) scored a hatrick for Samurai, while Izzy Stichbury and Hiromi Nzomo pulled one each for their team that had earlier won two titles in Davis Cup and Soldier’s Salute Championships, but narrowly missed the Maria Bencivenga Trophy two weeks ago.

“It was a tough match but we are happy to have come out with a draw from a much stronger side. I’m happy with the results,” Raphael said.

On their part, handicap 2 Phillip Arunga and Loius Roumeguere scored for Tanqueray after coming from two goals down.

Jacaranda and Team 24:7 also shared the Subsidiary Championships title after their final match ended in a six-all draw.

Kelvin Jumba emerged the top scorer for Jacaranda with four goals as Bobby Kamani had three goals for Team 24:7.

“It was a tough tournament, but we are happy with the results. It has really made us proud as we prepare for the new season later in the year,” Jumba said.

Radio Africa lifted the Losers’ Plate title after they won their two round-robin matches in the one-day-three team competition.

Radio Africa defeated Tusker Malt and Ultimate with an identical score of 3.5-1.
