As one of the best and well-organised leagues in Kenya today, Nakuru County Darts League throws off this morning at Jacaranda Sports Grill Hotel.

It's a league that's in a class of its own after the acquisition of sponsors last month.

A total of 12 clubs are expected to battle in the fight for top honours in the six-month league.

Each team will line up her seven players to play in round-robin singles and doubles matches in the two-day tournament ending tomorrow.

Points will be earned by each club after playing their 11 matches this weekend in a monthly format, which should decide the winner of the 12-team competition at the end of the season in December.

Hosts coordinator Simon Muhia said they have done all in their means to accommodate all clubs and their players in the first leg of the league championships.

"We have done our best and everything possible to ensure we successfully host the opening leg of the league championships, and we will be fair to each team at the end of the day," Muhia told Standard Sports.

All six legs of the league championships will be held at the same venue (Jacaranda Sports Grill Hotel).

Kenya Darts Association Nakuru County chairman Symon Kinyanjui confirmed this development, saying it was a perfect venue that in the past had hosted national and international assignments.

"All our league matches will be hosted here, as it boosts all facilities required in the hosting of national and international assignments of this magnitude," said the branch boss.

Kinyanjui further said they are in the process of ensuring the county becomes a fully registered branch as per the 2013 Sports Act.

"We must adhere to the requirements of the 2013 Sports Act. And therefore, our branch must be fully registered to allow us to take part in the KDA national elections once they are called," he said.
