Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has strongly defended his relationship with Paul Pogba following reports of a renewed bust-up that aroused speculation about the Frenchman’s future.

Several news outlets across Europe reported a fallout between ‘The Special One’ and the World Cup winner barely days after he scored Man United’s first goal of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign against Leicester.

After the match, Pogba took to his Instagram and posted a picture with the caption, “I’ll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what’s going on #pogfeelings,” – a post that football enthusiasts worldwide read a little bit into.

However, Mourinho poured cold water on rumours saying he has never been involved in a fight with Pogba.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday Mourinho insisted he did not understand what Pogba meant when he said he would be “fined if he said some things”.

“You have to ask Paul,” said Mourinho as he responded to queries about the midfielder. He then revealed that the only player he has ever fined since taking over at Old Trafford was Antony Martial, who missed a huge chunk of pre-season to go witness the birth of his baby.

“I'm here for two years and a couple of months and the only player that was fined was Anthony Martial, so is not easy to be fined here,” revealed Mourinho.

He then went on to praise Pogba for his attitude and performances, saying he has never been happier with him than he is now.

“The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks and I've never been as happy with him as I am now, that's the truth,” added Mourinho.

Pogba will remain captain as the Red Devils travel to the Falmer Stadium, England on Sunday to face Brighton and Hove Albion.
