A hat-trick from striker Tuyisenge in opening half was enough to kill off the game.

Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge netted a hat-trick to help his team sink Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 in a mid-week league match played in Kisumu yesterday.

The opener of the game came in the 13th minute after Paul Kamau sent a back pass to his keeper, John Oyemba, who failed to clear, allowing Tuyisenge to open his hat-trick account.

In the 20th minute, Meddie Kagere went past Wycliffe Otieno to set up Tuyisenge, who beat Oyemba to score the second goal before bagging his third one in the 36th minute after Wellington Ochieng' sent a cross from the left flunk into the box.

Innocent Wafula gifted the Sharks with a penalty after he handled the ball in the area on the 74th minute, which Juma Masood stepped up to slot in from the spot to make it 3-1.

The hosts - Gor Mahia - had started the game on a high with Francis Kahata, Kagere, and Wafula pinning the visitors back while making their custodian, Oyemba, the busiest player on the pitch.

Not even the opening goal could ease pressure on the Sharks - more were to come later. Ibrima Sande of Kariobangi Sharks would have got his name on the score sheet but his effort was ruled out as an offside.

Tuyisenge could have made it 4-0 with just two minutes to the breather but his effort hit the goal post.

The inclusion of Manoah Francis made some impact on the Sharks side as he paired well with Duke Abuya to keep Gor Mahia busy in their own half.

Sven Yinda had a golden opportunity for Sharks but instead of tucking the ball into the net, he passed it to Patilah Omotto, who wasted the chance.

Gor Mahia made two substitutes with Jean Baptiste coming in for Kenneth Muguna and Godfrey Walusimbi taking up George Odhiambo's place.

The changes did not make any difference as K'Ogalo looked set for a win that moved them steps towards the 2017 league title.
