Former Kipkelion West MP Jackson Rop has been appointed the new Kericho County Executive Committee Member of Finance.

Rop was one of the beneficiaries of a cabinet reshuffle announced by Kericho Governor Erick Mutai Tuesday through Executive Order No. 1 of 2024.

The former MP replaces Leonard Ngetich who has been moved to the Trade, Industrialisation, Tourism, and Wildlife Management docket.

The governor moved Brian Langat from Lands, Housing, and Physical Planning to Information, Communication, and E-Government, switching roles with John Kipruto Malel.

Brenda Bii and Rosemary Rop retained their Health Services and Water, Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources dockets respectively.

The changes saw Judith Chirchir retain her Education, Culture, Library Services, and Social Services docket.

Edna Tonui will take over the Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperative Management portfolio, Beatrice Kaptich is the CEC Public Service Management while Gideon Mutai was retained as County Attorney.

Following the resignation of Wesley Bor as the County Secretary after the County Assembly approved a motion of impeachment against him, Dr Mutai has appointed Lenny Kipyegon Kirui as the County Secretary in an acting capacity.

The redeployment of County Executive Committee members also extends to Chief Officers and other officials within the county executive.

The reshuffle comes a week after Generation Z protested against poor governance and corruption at the county government.
